LECTURES: M, T, W, R, F - Room 404E from 10:30 AM -11:30 AM. Attendance is mandatory in that only through regular attendance will you discover what material in our text is relevant for exams, as I will not be posting lecture material electronically. You are responsible for any announcements made during class. Absence from class does not relieve you from this responsibility. Please arrive on time and avoid leaving early unless the class is dismissed early.
WebCT: Course information and grades will be available on WebCT: http://webct.uga.edu. Your user ID is your UGAmail account login name and password. (If you do not have an account see: http://my.uga.edu/.)

BIOSCIENCE LEARNING CENTER (BLC) Room 406: The BLC has a wealth of materials including textbooks, videotapes, computers, and a variety of other resources that you might find useful in helping you embrace the subject matter of the course. When you utilize the BSC, please remember to sign the log as they receive funding based on use.
Hours:
Mon - Fri 9 am - 5:00 PM
Sat-Sun - Closed

EXAMS: All exams are answered on Scantron sheets and will be graded by machine. We will have 5 regular exams during the semester and one comprehensive final exam. Each student may drop his/her lowest regular exam grade (but not the final exam grade). MAKEUP Exams are NOT FEASIBLE. If you are sick and miss an exam, that missed exam will serve as your lowest exam grade and will be dropped. Exam scores will be posted on Web-CT as soon as they are processed. Check them as soon as possible; you have one week following the exam to challenge the accuracy of your grade.

INCOMPLETE: The grade of incomplete is only given to students who for reason of illness or accident were unable to complete the course. Incompletes are not given to avoid a failing grade.

DISABILITIES: Accommodations can be made for students with disabilities. Please meet with me during office hours to discuss your learning needs.

ACADEMIC HONESTY:
All academic work must meet the standards contained in "A Culture of Honesty." Students are responsible for informing themselves about those standards before performing any academic work. http://www.uga.edu/ovpi/honesty/acadhon.htm
Any person found using unauthorized assistance (including copying answers from another student during the regular exams or the final) will be immediately reported to the Office of the Vice President for Instruction. The minimum penalty for using unauthorized assistance is a failing grade, and the maximum penalty is suspension from the University.

COURSE GRADES will be based on Total Points Earned from the highest 4 of 5 regular Exams plus the Final:
Highest 4 out of 5 (50 pts each)
200 pts
Comprehensive Final Exam
50 pts
TOTAL
250 pts

Total Points Earned will be Scaled to a Plus/Minus Grading System (http://www.bulletin.uga.edu/PlusMinusGradingFAQ.html):
A = 94 Ð 100% C+ = 77 - 79%
A- = 90 - 93% C = 73 - 76%
B+ = 87 - 89% C- = 70 - 72%
B = 83 - 86% D = 60 - 69%
